YXLON Upgrades Software to Meet Aerospace Standards
Parts x-rays to meet ASTM standards.
Hamburg, Germany — YXLON International is equipping the standard Y.Multiplex X-ray system with new software to enable a convenient and automatic system test in compliance with the ASTM E2737-10 standard. This standard is intended to make it easier for industrial users of radiographic technology applications to test and document their system's inspection performance, especially in the aviation sector.
As a result, inspectors working on systems with digital flat-panel detectors receive enormous support when auditing their inspection system, such as with Nadcap accreditation (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program), and an unbiased verification that facilitates the transition from film to digital radiography.
X-ray inspection of parts bearing a relevance to safety are being switched over more and more to digital flat-panel detectors, particularly in the aviation industry. Eliminating film and chemicals puts less of a burden not only on production budgets, but on the environment as well. Simple, automated verification of the X-ray system's stable quality, including flat-panel detector and imaging software.
In addition, this new software means that YXLON is complying with the ASTM's evolving DICONDE standard (Digital Imaging and Communication in Nondestructive Evaluation). DICONDE is based on the DICOM standard (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine), which standardizes data formats in medicine and enables their exchangeability, independent of different manufacturers' systems. Taken as a norm for industrial applications, DICONDE makes it possible to combine all the relevant information, such as all the inspection parameters and details on the inspection item, together with the image. All of the data is saved together with the image.
