Wayne, NJ — Cardinal Components, Inc. is introducing the CACF series of anti-counterfeit oscillators with embedded encryption and DNA security. The company presented a paper, and has demonstrated a three-part solution to the problem of counterfeit oscillators. The three-part solution to the problem of counterfeit oscillators: First, embed protection in the device. This requires a customer-specific key verified by a special test system provided by Cardinal. A protect-code is configured into every part (40 bits). The synthesis values, which vary from part to part, and the customer key are encrypted with an algorithm to form the protect-code.

Secondly, product level serialization will be available for each and every component as required. And finally DNA strain in the laser marking of products, which requires a special hand-held low-cost spectrometer for product verification.
This three-part solution addresses the physical robustness of the DNA marking, the tracking level security of serialization, and the embedded protection of customer specific key verification. The new CACF series will make it possible for the customer to read the device in-circuit to validate on a finished assembly. The CACF Series is factory configurable from 1 to 200MHz, offered in Industrial and Military temperature ranges. Stability is available in 100, 50 and 25 PPM levels. The product is offered in 5V and 3.3V and packaging, in SMD 5 x 7, 5 x 3.2mm and other industry standard packages as well as CMOS, LVDS and LVPECL outputs.
