Molex Introduces Next Generation Sealed Rectangular Connector (SRC) System
LISLE, IL -   Molex Incorporated intros the Sealed Rectangular Connector (SRC) System for high-circuit-counts in harsh environments
Molex Incorporated introduces the Sealed Rectangular Connector (SRC) System designed for high-circuit-count applications in harsh environments such as those found in agricultural machinery, construction and mining equipment. The next generation SRC system offers a rugged, sealed wire-to-panel and wire-to-wire hybrid connection system featuring MX150™ and MX150L™ terminals.

"Commercial vehicles are becoming more intelligent with increased wiring requirements and demands for hybrid technology," says Denis O'Sullivan, global product manager, Molex. "The primary location for our system is the firewall connector, situated between the cab and the engine, but it also can replace existing circular connectors in various in-vehicle applications."

Featuring an integral, two-way matte seal with improved retention, the new SRC system passes IP69k testing and is ideally suited for applications located in demanding environments. Additionally, the use of field-proven MX150 (control) and MX150L (power) terminal technology helps non-automotive transportation OEMs achieve significant production cost savings by eliminating the need to purchase, handle and crimp individual wire seals. Consisting seven segments (A to G) that can be either power or control segments, where one control segment consists of 12 circuits and one power segment consists of three circuits, the modular design of the SRC provides flexibility to increase circuit count up to 84 (control only) and allows for simple field repair and replacement of headers and connectors.

The Molex SRC system uses MX150 terminals with current ratings up to 18A, while the MX150L terminals are rated up to 40A. Retention greater than 400N helps ensure good mating in high-vibration environments. The SRC achieves single-handed blind mate functionality through a sliding latch with cam action. In addition, plastic stand-offs arranged within the terminal position assurance provide an anti-scooping feature that prevents damage to terminals when header and connector are mated.
