It's been a fabulous year of recovery for the electronics industry, as companies that had been hit by slowdowns overseas start to ramp up business. In the meantime, electronics manufacturing in the U.S. has been on a steady upswing as business is moving back to our shores. Slowly, and inexorably, the onshoring impetus is making its presence felt here. Contract manufacturers and OEMs are building an increasing amount of domestic business as more and more companies are finding that the economics of manufacturing in China do not always work for them. To be sure, the Pacific Rim still cranks out enormous quantities of electronics for consumers all over the world, but jobs are coming back to the Americas.

With this in mind, we have prepared our 2013 Editorial and Show Calendar (see page 106 of this issue of U.S. Tech) or the updated Media Kit on our website. It's a busy schedule, with several shows coming in quick succession and even overlapping. As usual, U.S. Tech will be at these and many other shows, helping to promote this business upsurge.
All of this does not happen in a vacuum. If you're reading this, you already know the value of the free publicity that our publication can offer. Couple it with a well-planned advertising schedule, and you can deliver a one-two punch that will be a sure winner for your business.
We have many openings for feature articles for our Special Focus section, as well as shorter features such as "Contract Manufacturing," "Partnering," "Production," "Management," and "Tech Watch." These are all empty pages waiting for your company's message to be told. And there are many opportunities for placing Product releases, since almost every issue has three Product sections totaling more than 100 products in each issue. If you don't already have a regular program of press releases and feature articles, it's probably time that you talked to your marketing people.
We provide some special services for our contributors as well. Send us a feature article, and you will receive a PDF file of the article as it appears in print — suitable for use in reprints and handouts, as well as posting it on your own website. In addition, you can have a link on your website that goes directly to the article on U.S. Tech's website. There are many ways your company can benefit by submitting editorial material.
And remember, every print issue also appears on our website, and in a digital edition with free apps available for iPAD, iPHONE, and Droid. It's just another way to make your message go that much farther.
