PHOENIX, AZ –
Suntron Corporation, a leader in integrated electronics manufacturing systems (EMS) and embedded computing solutions, recently hosted an event to celebrate reshoring of manufacturing jobs at its Methuen, MA facility. The event was held with Suntron’s partner, ZeeVee Inc., a developer of high definition video distribution products, which recently moved its product manufacturing from China to Suntron’s Methuen facility.
The event featured remarks by Jon Saunders, Suntron Methuen Plant Manager, Steve Metzger, ZeeVee V.P. Hardware and Operations, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, and Representative Linda Dean Campbell. Joanne F. Goldstein, Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development, and Joseph Bevilacqua, President/CEO Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce, also participated.
Both Suntron and ZeeVee are growing rapidly as a result of the new partnership. Suntron has added 20 new employees to its Methuen staff, a welcome addition in a community that lost its share of manufacturing jobs during the recession. ZeeVee has more than doubled its business every year, and expects the new manufacturing partnership to significantly improve its time to market.
According to Suntron, this type of collaboration has been vital to the recovery of the Massachusetts manufacturing sector. Since November 2011, Massachusetts has regained 700 manufacturing jobs, and the state is expected to continue an upward employment trajectory through the summer of 2012. Both companies noted that it is more important than ever for companies to consider the benefits of reshoring for both themselves and the community.
Jon Saunders, Suntron’s Methuen plant manager, summarized the benefits of a mid-size, more flexible U.S. manufacturer: “We are small enough to care about the project and offer flexible services, while large enough to make a difference.”
